I wish to tag the notes in the google notebook

Sunday, September 3rd, 2006

I came across the Google Notebook by chance

Now. it is _the_ first of many in the Home Page of the Firefox. (open challenge: Guess the rest of the tabs!)
It would be so so so nice to be able to tag the notes

example: tag note “reddit feature: limit number of submits based on karma” with “todo prio 1″ and when implemented (when reddit? when :-) ) change to “done 2008-10-20″

Yes, it is still in the labs and maybe the feature is on the way

maybe, the notebook was not meant to do this.

but, is that not the point of great software? they are great because it is possible to do stuff that was not meant to be by the great developers :-)

What are your essential services on the web

when will Yahoo! buy reddit?

Sunday, September 3rd, 2006 and reddit are 2 of my favorite services on the web apart from bloglines

when will they get married ?

when one of this happens, i will probably most likely use _much_ less of the other service.

why: I want to vote in OR tag in reddit

secondly: in, i want to blog the 5 links that others least voted OR auto-blog the 5 links i rated interesting and least others did.

Let us wait and see

Roseola and Rubella

Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

The health industry will gain more karma if they gave parents information about Roseola, Rubella etc. at birth

Roseola: ..After several nights of watching their toddler with a [high] fever, the parents notice a red rash covering his body.. The phrase “Links to other articles you might find interesting” at the end of such articles should be “Links to other articles you might find more scary”Thank You Dr. Greene

Display “keep new” items

Monday, August 28th, 2006

This is yet another freedback for bloglines

Allow me to see “keep new” posts easily

Better yet, allow me to see “keep new” posts by default on the right pane instead of showing a static “We track your favorite news, blogs, weather, and classifieds so that you don’t have to.”

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s 2006 National Day Rally Speeches

Monday, August 21st, 2006

The PM spoke in 3 languages: English, Mandarin and Malay. When will there be a speech in Tamil ?

The Current Press Releases site SPRInter (linked to from for several minutes displayed : ..There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request..

English text of the speech in Malay

English text of the speech in Mandarin

English text of the speech in English

Why are the title texts in ALL CAPS ?

sprinter headlines in all CAPS

Dear sprinter administrator, see Weblog Usability: The Top Ten Design Mistakes which states ..I noticed several headlines in ALL CAPS. That’s always bad. Reading speed is reduced by 10% and users are put off by the appearance of shouting..What about the Malay, Mandarin text of the speech in English ?

Freedback for the SPRInter

The PM stated “mrbrown is a talented man” (found @ the about page: And I have a regular Friday column I USED to have a regular Friday column for TODAY newspaper.)

There was also reference to the TalkingCock

Audio and Video are available @ ChannelNewsAsia

Sort by Screen Resolution in Google Analytics

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

Have been browsing the reports in Google Analytics

The “Screen Resolutions” report in the web design parameters needs to be changed

When I sort by the name “Screen Resolution”, the not-best :-) 2 screen resolutions appear at the bottom due to 800×600 and 640×480

Google Analytics Screen Resolution Sorting

These need to be changed to 0800×0600 and 0640×0480

The easiest way of testing the WebMenu in a siteinfo.xml

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

Like many others, I recently started seeing many requests for siteinfo.xml in the website error log

These are due to the a9 tool bar siteinfo points to the siteinfo specification pages which explains how to setup siteinfo.xml on a website and ends with “The easiest way of testing the WebMenu in a siteinfo.xml is to install the A9 Toolbar and view the loaded WebMenu that is under the Site Info button.”

Why should a webmaster install the toolbar ?

The easier way would be to provide a form to enter the website and perform the check and report status

37signals mailing list

Saturday, August 19th, 2006

Here is the challenge :-)

Find the 37signals mailing list

The Yahoo Group stated @ is invalid

The subscribe box is only available in the previous archive format pages.

I have written to Jason and let us see.

This is a freedback for 37signals.

Update on 2006-10-06-Fri: Jason is listening.. we have a mailing list too

The recent advice by them is “You’re not governed by fate. You can react.” in Google does not render resistance futile

labels in blogger are comma separated and not space separated like flickr

TechCrunch: unveils new beta version

Nice to see that it is possible to add labels (or tags?) to posts.

But why are the labels comma separated and not space separated like flickr

Why make it difficult for the user to remember two conventions !

Does no one in Google use Flickr ?

I have written about this before. tag separator in 43things and flickr
